Starting a Marking Session

As soon as you have loaded a marking scheme, you have begun a marking session. But, in order for the session to be useful, you have to tell it what projects you are going to be marking. To do this, select "Set The Projects for This Session" from the Gild Marker View's local menu. You will be presented with a dialog like this one:

Check the projects that you would like to mark. We will be marking Assignment1.A and Assignment1.B. Select "OK".

Now, inspect the Gild Marker View:

First, you should notice that the title of the view has changed. It has changed to reflect the project that is currently being marked. We just selected a set of projects that will be managed by our marking session. But, before we can mark anything specific, we have to select a project to mark. The view automatically selects the first project in the list of projects set each time you use the "Set The Projects for This Session" action. But, at any point during your marking session, you can change the project you are currently marking by selecting "Set Current Project" from the view's local menu. For now, we will leave it as Assignment1.A.

Second, you will notice that the top pane in the view has been populated with a tree that looks like the marking scheme that we created. This pane is actually an overview of the marks being applied to the current project, using the marking scheme. It will eventually hold more information, such as what line notes have been added to the project, and what the score for each section is.

Third, directly underneath the overview pane, you will see a text details pain. It is updated according to what is selected in the overview pane.

Fourth, at the bottom of the view, you can see a line notes list. It is currently empty. You will see how to interact with it in the next section of this documentation.
