Sections are simple descriptions of a concept is to be marked within a marking scheme. A section can (and will, unless it is the root section) be the child of one other section within the same marking scheme. A section can also have a number of sibling sections, so that all of the sections within a marking scheme form a tree structure. Each section has several attributes:

• Name: a short description of what the section is. Two sibling sections cannot have the same name, and no name can contain a '/' character.
• Out-of Score: a numerical value that a section is to be marked "out of". The out-of score of sibling sections must add up to the out-of score of their parent.
